our

mission

Gathering and educating young artists to create a new harmony.

At HYC, we believe in the transformative power of music and the performing arts to unite communities and cultivate confidence in young people across every dimension of their lives. Through programs serving students ages three to eighteen, we foster leadership, responsibility, and collaboration as integral components of the rehearsal and performance process. Each rehearsal is thoughtfully designed to provide rigorous instruction not only in vocal technique, dance, and performance practice, but also in empathy, emotional connection, communication, and creative expression.

Our educators are highly trained in age-appropriate pedagogical strategies, carefully scaffolding instruction to maximize student growth in musicality, choreography, and performance skills. Our curriculum is rooted in the Kodály method of music education, which emphasizes deep musical literacy, joyful engagement, and the belief that music is a gift accessible to all. This approach prioritizes cultivating a genuine love of music as the foundation for technical skill development. While methods such as Suzuki have historically provided effective classical training for some students, the Kodály philosophy has demonstrated broader accessibility and sustained engagement by inspiring intrinsic motivation and a meaningful connection to music.

HYC is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive environment where all students can experience the joy and transformative impact of making music together.

Testimonials

"Harmony Youth Collective (HYC) has helped my daughter to overcome shyness, find her voice, and develop stage presence. It is a beautiful thing to see your child find their joy and community. She loves being part of a community learning to perform together and benefits tremendously from the friendships and mentorship. Singing her first solo on stage in front of hundreds of people will forever be a key childhood memory for her and in her own words 'I have waited my whole life to sing a solo on stage.'”

"HYC is such a thoughtful and deliberate organization that nurtures young people to develop their talents in a wholesome, collaborative environment. Our daughter has blossomed under the stewardship of HYC and has learned valuable lessons on how to embrace setbacks and successes. HYC's philosophy of pairing mentors and mentees teaches young people the value of relationships and giving back to others while encouraging everyone to be their best. In an environment that could easily foster competitive tensions, HYC teaches young people the value of teamwork, grace, and work ethic."

"Since second grade, my daughter has been a dedicated member of HYC. This program has been a cornerstone in her development, significantly enhancing her confidence and empowering her as a young woman. It has fostered strong social connections and boosted her cognitive functions. The choir has provided an immensely supportive environment, giving her a profound sense of purpose and achievement. Additionally, it has improved her respiratory function and overall physical well-being. We are deeply grateful for HYC and eagerly anticipate the wonderful experiences and growth that lie ahead in the program."

"Harmony Youth Collective has been an incredible experience for our three daughters.  The staff has not only instilled the love of music in each of them, but has taught them confidence, perseverance and how to work in a group setting.  The performances are ones we will never forget, with vibrant colors dancing across the stage and voices ringing out in glee.  Seeing their little faces light up during their performances is the best feeling in the world.  Our girls have fallen in love with singing and we owe that to the magical team of HYC!"
